Dean Performer acoustic/electric
Price: $200 (scratch and dent item, normally $250)
Pro's:
-light weight
-slightly smaller than a regular jumbo
-unique finish on flamed maple
-comfortable neck
-nice low action with minimal fret buzz
-tuners are accurate and stay in tune
-sounds great through a PA
Con's:
-sounds tiny and thin unplugged (was to be expected though)
-had to adjust the truss rod to get rid of some nasty fret buzz
-overall finish is not flawless, but good for it's price
Review:
I bought this guitar on a whim because I needed an acoustic/electric to beat around on at party gigs and such. I didn't want to spend much, because I'm sure it will be put through the ringers at practice and gigs. I bought it strictly for being played through a PA/amp, so I wasn't worried about how it sounded unplugged. Luckily, it sounds great plugged in. It has a nice full bodied tone with clear lows and crisp highs when plugged up. The neck is very comfortable, and easy to play. My only complaint is a bit of fretbuzz on the low E string, but I think I can work that out. I'm sure there are plenty who will be put off by the finish, but my favourite color is blue, so I really like it. I think it's going to end up being a great little "fun" guitar.
Summary:
In the beginning, I was very nervous about purchasing this guitar, as I had never played it before. But, in the end, I'm very glad I did. It's cheap and not the best sounding guitar, but it is exactly what I was looking for. It is defanately goign to see a lot of use.
I made a little clip last night of a song I wrote on it (funny how a new guitar can inspier you). I tuned the guitar to DADGAD (my favourite outside of standard). It's nothing much, but I thought it turned out pretty good. There's a little chorus, eq, and reverb added, so it's not all the guitars tone, but it works. The playing is pretty rough in places, but it was just a test, so I wasn't too worried about that. Anyway, let me know what you think.
The song is "DADGADacoustic1" on my >Soundclick< page.

Well, the couch was a freebie, so no complaining there. And, I happen to like it myself.

I've been a Dean Fan for years. That guitar looks great, like faded denim. Good stuff.
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.

I think I might get one... I have liked every dean I've played on. and I want to get an acoustic soon. I like the finish. the recording didn't sound the greatest though. oh well, I only want an acoustic to write stuff on in my room, I doubt I'll use it for much recording or live playing.
