So "orange" is a type of amp... or an actual amp that is the color orange. Because if you want give me a can of spray paint and five minutes...

I've heard they're excellent for classic rock, but I've never had the chance to try one out for myself.

I've seen several bands use them at shows. (not local bands) So they can handle metal/hardcore. But I know every time I see one I'm like... Tee hee an orange amp. They're awkward but I love em.

[font=trebuchet ms]The guys on >this board< generally know their stuff.

This is an older crowd, so either be respectful, or risk missing out on some excellent info.

Not sure how much power you want but if you want something you can play without your neighbors calling the cops I recomend the Orange 15R. I bought my little brother a Orange 15w practice amp w\reverb off EBAY. I really liked the reverb on it and it has a nice clean tone too, if you want distortion you just crank the gain and whoo hoo, distortion city! I have a roland micro cube practice amp and the orange sounds just as good. The only thing better about my micro cube is all the different COSM models of amps. Other than that the sound is sweet. Don't let the little 15w amp fool you, it gets pretty loud.
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

They're definitely not cheap like a guy said earlier... not quality wise or expense wise... They're a more high-end boutique style tube amp... They're good for a lot of styles of music and they have a distinct clean tone... also they're not really designed to get high gain or a lot of crunch... however the big wattage heads can get some nasty bite. They're considered to be top grade tube amps though and a lot of young progressive rock bands are using them... one example is the guys from The Mars Volta... never buy an amp without playing it first though...
